Antur Stiniog's New Trail launch:
On Saturday the 14th of September over 200
mountain bikers from all over the UK descended on the World famous Antur
Stiniog Bike Park slopes to celebrate the opening of the 4 new trails on site that now takes our trail network to 14.
The new trails total almost 5km in length, and include a
1.5km new green trail called Plug and Feathers aimed at family groups and
beginners to gravity biking.
The trails were supported by Welsh Government through the
TAIS scheme and completed using local specialist construction Company XTPlant
Ltd.
The other trails include a 1.4km jump trail with over 30
jumps top to bottom, a new red trail for intermediate mountain bikers, and a
new black graded trail for expert level and competition use and bring the total
number of trails at Antur Stiniog to 14.
The new trail network was officially opened on the day by
World Champion Dh racer Steve Peat, and was followed by a celebration of bikes
and music with local group Anweledig playing a set on the roof of the Mtb
Centre building to a mix of bikers and local residents who had been ferried up
from the town with a free shuttle bus laid on by Antur Stiniog.
Bike Development Officer Adrian Bradley said, ‘ This
development will secure, and sustain the local workforce and also create more
jobs moving forward as the demand for mountain biking and the outdoor sector
continues to grow, this will further allow Antur Stiniog to invest more into
the local community, and further develop sustainable tourism in the area for
years to come.
